Romantic music for reading, without lyrics pulling you out
Love songs make poor reading companions: their lyrics compete with the characters' own words. Many readers find that music without lyrics is less distracting than a song and leaves the page in charge. That's why Lectune only composes instrumental music, sometimes carried by a wordless choir, and never copies an existing piece or artist.
Before a single note, the AI analyzes your book (genre, period, places, atmosphere) and turns it into a musical brief: mood, setting, tempo, key and instruments. Then it composes four original movements in the same key. For most romances, that means a close, intimate piano, strings that breathe, and warm harmonies rather than big cinematic swells.
From Regency romance to romantasy: a sound for every subgenre
A Regency courtship doesn't sound like a campus romance, and an enemies-to-lovers fantasy doesn't sound like either. Because each soundtrack starts from the book itself, its instruments and tempo follow the subgenre, the setting and the period the story takes place in.
All four movements share one key, like chapters of the same story told in different light: one tender, one restless. If a movement feels too melancholy for tonight, set it aside and keep the rest. A few colors the musical brief might pick up on:
- Historical romance: chamber strings and keyboard, drawing-room elegance
- Contemporary romance: soft piano, light strings, an unhurried tempo
- Romantasy: sweeping strings and wordless choir around the love story
- Dark romance: a stronger pulse and shadowed harmonies for the tension
Setting the mood for reading a romance novel
Romances tend to be devoured in a sitting or two, so the player never stops. Movements crossfade in a different order and from different entry points every time, so you won't hear an obvious loop, even hours in. You can also play them in order, shuffle them, or jump around inside a track.
Want more atmosphere? Layer in up to two real recorded ambiences, rain on a roof and a crackling fireplace for a winter love story, waves for a summer one, a busy café terrace for a meet-cute in town, with their own volume slider, separate from the music. And once you have listened to a book on a device, it stays playable offline, on a train or a plane.
