How it works

  1. Find your book

Novel, essay, classic or ongoing saga: millions of titles are recognised, in English and French.

  2. AI composes its soundtrack

Genre, era, places, mood: the book is analysed then scored as four original movements in the same key, within minutes.

  3. Read with music

Movements flow endlessly. Add up to two ambiences, set the sleep timer, pick your favourite movements, in order or shuffled.

Made for reading

  • Unique music for each book

Instruments, tempo and key follow the world of the book. No existing piece is reproduced: the soundtrack is composed for it.

  • Endless, never tiring

Movements crossfade in an ever-changing order and from ever-changing entry points: the loop is impossible to spot.

  • Real ambiences

Rain on the roof, thunderstorm, café, train, ocean waves, crackling fireplace…: ten real recordings, mix any two, at the volume you like.

  • Sleep timer up to 6 h

The music fades out gently when you fall asleep over your book, from 5 minutes to 6 hours.

  • Offline listening

A book you've already played on your device stays available without a connection: on the subway, on a plane or at the bottom of the garden.

  • Everywhere, even locked screen

Mobile apps and website: on phone, tablet or computer, playback continues in the background with your device controls.

Music true to every world

A few examples of what the AI composes depending on the genre.

Fantasy
Sweeping strings, harp, distant choirs: epic yet gentle music for quests, kingdoms and magic.
Science fiction
Synth pads, slow pulses, a vast sound space: for space opera and speculative fiction alike.
Crime and thrillers
Late-night piano, double bass, restrained tension: the mood of investigations in the rain.
Romance
Intimate piano and strings, warm harmonies for love stories.
Great classics
Chamber music with romantic or baroque colours for the great novels of literature.
Horror and the uncanny
Dark drones, unsettling textures and haunted silences to shiver page after page.

Why read with music?

Soft instrumental music without lyrics helps you focus: it masks surrounding noise (commute, open space, neighbours) without drawing attention.

Tuned to the world of the book, it deepens immersion: the same atmosphere awaits every time you pick up your book, like a ritual.

Unlike a generic “music for reading” playlist, the soundtrack follows the tone of the book: epic fantasy does not sound like a noir thriller.

Frequently asked questions

Is the music really original?

Yes. It is generated by a music AI from a description of the sound (instruments, tempo, mood), never from an existing work or artist. Each book gets its own soundtrack.

Do I need an account?

Not to listen to the free catalogue. To score your own book, create an account (email or Google) and verify your address. You then get 3 free credits to start. Then buy credits or invite a friend: you each get 3 credits.

How long does it take to compose a soundtrack?

A few minutes. The first movement plays as soon as it is ready, the others arrive while you listen.

Can I mix several ambiences?

Yes, up to two at a time (rain and fireplace, thunderstorm and train…), with a volume separate from the music. By default no ambience plays: turn them on in the player, or choose your default ambiences in your account settings.

Does the music loop?

No: movements crossfade in an ever-changing order and from ever-changing points. You can also play only your favourite movements, in order or shuffled, and seek within them.

Does it work on phones?

Yes: Lectune has mobile apps that share your account, library and credits with the website. Playback continues in the background and with the screen locked, on phone, tablet and desktop.

What if the composition fails?

Your credit is refunded automatically and you can restart the composition.
